An Open Letter to Ahmed

Dear Ahmed Mohamed, I'm sorry that people's ignorance and fears within this society caused you to experience a traumatic event in your life.

I'm sorry that people's ignorance and fears within this society caused you to not only be handcuffed for public display at a place you thought was safe, but also at a place you thought you could be yourself and show your accomplishments.

I'm sorry people's ignorance and fears caused them to only see your skin color.

I'm sorry people's ignorance and fears caused them to prosecute and interrogate you based on their racist stereotypes.

I'm sorry that people's ignorance and fears masked your accomplishment, one that should have prompted praise and encouragement.

I'm sorry people's ignorance and fears have masked their perceptions and common sense so much to the point where they do not notice a visionary and an innovator at a young age.

Ahmed.......Keep building, Keep dreaming because you are awesome and I'm sorry you were not met with the words of encouragement and inspiration that you truly deserved.
